Youth congress backs Lokoja varsity VC

The Nigerian Youth Congress, Kogi state chapter, has passed a vote of confidence on the management of the Federal University, Lokoja, led by Professor Angela Freeman Miri, on her efforts in transforming the institution.
This was contained in a statement signed by the state coordinator of the congress, Comrade Alfa Amen Egbune, which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja, yesterday. The statement said the youth congress, an affiliate of organisation of youth unions in Nigeria under the auspices of the United Nation Youth Organisations, recently embarked on independent investigation into the performances of head of tertiary institutions across the North Central Nigeria. Comrade Egbune disclosed that, the congress, having critically studied and analysed the performance of the Vice Chancellors of all the 12 newly established federal universities by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, noted that the VC of the Federal University Lokoja stood out among others, based on her prudent human and financial resources management.
According to him, “We have seen the Vice Chancellor as an astute administrator and a prudent manager of resources, based on her capacity to see things done rightly. “From our investigation, we saw the determination of Prof Freeman to relocate the university to its permanent site and looking at this effort, if she succeeds, this will create an enabling environment for the institution to expand in terms of structural development. “We are also in the know of her effort to introduce new faculties into the university; this commitment will guarantee more admission of youth as students and even as staff of the institution,” he said.
