Youth engagement ‘ll curb insecurity, atrocities- Lagos lawmaker

In commemoration of 2019 World Youth Skills Day, member representing Eti-Osa constituency 02 in Lagos state House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, has called on Nigerians to get involved in active youth engagement

In a statement signed by the lawmaker and made available to newsmen Tuesday, the lawmaker said youth engagement will help in achieving sustainable development goals and stable society.

Yishawu posited that young people are almost three times more likely to be unemployed than adults, continuously exposed to lower quality of jobs, greater labour market inequalities and longer or more insecure school-to-work transitions.

While celebrating with the Nigerian youth, the lawmaker appealed to them not to engage in any form of atrocities that will further endanger the country.

“The active engagement of youth in sustainable development efforts is central to achieving sustainable, inclusive and stable societies and averting the worst threats and challenges to sustainable development.

“Now that governments are working hard to tackle insecurity in the country, youths must not involve in any form of atrocities,” he said.
