‘Youth have what it takes to change Nigeria’

Assistant Liaison Coordinator of Julius Berger Nigeria, Amb Olumide Obasuyi, has said that there are vibrant and intelligent youth that can change the fortune of the country for good.

He stated this on Friday, while receiving an award of “Icon of Youth” from National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) at Julius Berger head office in Abuja.

Obasuyi lamented that one of the challenges the country was facing was as a result of leadership failure, but with proper guidance and support for citizens, some of the social vices would reduced.

According to him “youth is what define a nation, we need them now. Though we need the wisdom of the elders, but we need the youth to help build a nation that will be likable, lovable and take Nigeria to the promise land.

“We have to scout for youth with humble background, which we need to be in the position of authority. The youth are more important to build a Nigeria that we will all be proud of”.

In his speech, NYCN President, Comrade Murtala Muhammed Gamji, said they decided to honour Obasuji “because of his contributions to the development of Nigeria and the youths in particular”.
Gamji noted that “though it is not in the habit of NYCN to give award, but in rare cases we must honor people that have contributed to the growth of the country.

Amb. Obasuyi has been very supportive to the council and he has to a large extent empowered significant number of youth”.
