Youth’ll play great roles in C/River new govt – Gov candidate

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River state, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, has assured that youths would play great roles in defining a new direction for the state when he emerges winner of next year’s Governorship polls.

Otu said this in Calabar, Friday, while commissioning the secretariat of a support group, De Cruise Network.

The candidate said he was overwhelmed by the level of support from Cross River youths where more than 200 support groups had already committed huge resources as a sacrifice to ensure a new Cross River is realised with him as the pilot.

“With over 200 support groups, we have noted that well over 90 percent of them are being established and sponsored by the young people, and that is what our government, by the grace of God, will be about. The new Cross River of our dream shall be anchored principally by youths.

“Let it be known that we will not be concentrating only on rewarding big names but we will also reward small names who have shown great impact in the field and we will make sure that everyone will be properly recognized at the fullness of time,” he stated.

The deputy governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, in his remarks, also noted with satisfaction the level of support the youths were rendering to Prince Bassey Otu’s campaign.

On his part, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Events, and the Board of Trustees Chairman of the Group, Honourable Kenn Aklah, extolled the commitment of De Cruise Network and other groups to ensure Otu wins the election.

While dedicating the office to the Governorship candidate for his use during the electioneering process, the Director General Comrade Nji Nji reiterated the group’s unflinching commitment in ensuring that the message is passed on to every ward until victory is attained.
