Youths asked to be patriotic

Youths in the country have been charged to imbibe the spirit of patriotism as well as discharging their civic responsibilities to their fatherland at all times for national development.
The State Director, National Orientation Agency, Kogi state directorate, Chief Ibikunle Medubi, gave the charge in Kabba while addressing the 8th batch of Youth Advancement and Development for Kogi(YAD4KOGI).
Medubi, who said that the civic duty of citizens was constitutional, legal and religious, charged Nigerians to always demonstrate their patriotism and actively participate in the governance process by engaging governments and demanding transparency and accountability using all available legal and constitutional framework and mechanism.
He urged government at all levels to live up to expectation in discharge of their statutory roles, saying that “if citizens must always display patriotism and discharge their civic duties, government must be seen to uphold and defend the fundamental rights of the citizens.”
