Youths commend Gaidam for signing penal code law

Youths across Yobe state hae commended Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for signing into law, bill against rape, homosexuality, kidnapping among others, stressing it will reduce the vices in the state.
This was contained in a press release made available to journalists by the Executive Director of North East Youth Initiative Forum (NEYIF), Dauda Mohammed Gombe in Damaturu yesterday.
“The signing of the bill into law will curtail the rate of rape, homosexuality, kidnapping and other related cases in the society, ” he said.
The law made provision for the amendment of section 282 of the Penal Code among other things clearly stipulates that where the victim is a minor, he shall be punished for life imprisonment and where the victim is an adult the victim shall be jailed for a term of 25 years.
In a related development, the leadership of All Progressives Congress, Damaturu chapter has joined other youths in the state in giving accolades to the governor for signing the bill.
The APC Youth Leader, Yusuf Goni (Kaka) told our correspondent that it’s high time those going into these activities desist before the law catches up with them.
Kaka further said they would partner with security agencies in fishing out the perpetrators for the society to be free of the crimes.
