‘Youths should be groomed for leadership’

President, Youth Initiative for Diversity in Nigeria (YIDIN),Comrade Sadiq Ibrahim Badamasi, has advocated proper grooming of the nation’s youth to prepare them for future leadership roles.
Badamasi also called on the government to create more opportunities for the youth in order to make the proposed grooming a huge success.
President of the group, who spoke at a programme to herald the “Nigerian Youths for Peace Crusade” in Abuja yesterday, however, called on the nation’s youths to shun ethnic bias and religious intolerance.
Badamasi, who also lamented that the youth had allowed themselves to be used to perpetrate many forms of electoral malpractices, urged them to speak with one voice with a view to forging a more powerful force in the country.
He said: “These set of youths allow themselves to be used in perpetrating many forms of electoral malpractices including rigging, political thuggery, snatching of ballot boxes, political vandalism and assassination among other related vices.
“If Nigeria will grow, then the government needs to sincerely focus on creating more opportunities for youths. We need to ensure that young people are well groomed for future leadership.
“We use this opportunity to also call on the youth to shun all forms of ethnic bias, religious intolerance and other holdbacks and speak with one voice in order to forge a more powerful force which will put us in the fore front of the political space.”
According to him, to achieve peace among the youth, the association will embark on a series of peace crusades, which would start off in Lugbe town, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and spread to all parts of the country.
