In a drive to promoting spirit of commitment and hard work among students in tertiary institutions, the Senior Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth and Students Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, has urged students to change their mindset and dependence on destiny and face the realities of studies.
Imagwe, who was answering questions by journalists at a seminar on the journey so far on youth and education, told the youth that, although destiny plays a role in one’s life, depending on it may lead to ugly future.
He said it is the individual that makes his or her destiny realisable by harnessing the potential in him.
“If your destiny has been pre-determined, you won’t be here seeking educational development, you would have stayed back in your homes waiting for your destiny to come,” he said.
He, however, commended the Students Union Government (SUG) of various institutions for their relentless efforts in providing conducive atmosphere for management and students to operate.
Comrade Imagwe also blamed crises in some institutions of higher learning on poor human relations existing between staff and students of such schools.
He called on the students to always channel their challenges to the school management for proper debate.
