You’ve neglected us, support groups tell Tinubu

Support groups that worked for the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of Federal Republic of Nigeria during the last general elections have accused him of neglecting them.

The support groups, comprise those that worked for him during the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary and the last presidential elections which President Tinubu eventually won but still being challenged by the opposition parties.

A statement issued by four support groups that worked for the victory elections of President Tinubu, namely, Team Musa Wada for Tinubu/Shettima, chaired by Chief Musa Wada, Team Faleke, chaired by Hajiya Ramatu Abdulhammed, Tinubu/Shettima Forum, chaired by Alhaji Mohammed Tanko, and Tinubu for Good Governance, chaired byComrade Innocent Daniel, explained why the support groups should be rewarded.

Chief Musa Wada, who spoke on behalf of the other support groups, said that the groups are very bitter with President Tinubu for not rewarding their efforts which enabled him to clinch the coveted seat.

Wada maintained that instead of the president to give them appointments as compensation for their efforts, he is “appointing people that were even criticising him in the last election”.

Consequently, the Support Groups cautioned Mr President not to allow cabals to seize the scene and be dictating to him, stressing that, “All decisions should come from the Almighty God and good reasoning with people of good will.

They, however, insisted that the president can still make things right, because the support groups have qualified and competent experts and technocrats who can deliver good governance to Nigerians.

According to them, “It is not too late for the president to compensate the various support groups that oiled his campaign machinery during the campaign and elections periods. There is still room for the president to redeem himself and compensate those that supported him with appointments in all the over 1,000 federal parastatals, agencies or boards”.

On way forward, the support groups said, “Tinubu can put us into these boards as compensation and we must perform well”.

To achieve this, they said, “A committee should be set up to collate all the national coordinators or presidents of the support groups and submit to the President through the office of the vice president”.
