The Kogi state command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said yesterday that it has commenced surveillance on major routes in the state to ensure accident-free yuletide.

The state sector commander, Ogochukwu Ugboma, who stated this in Lokoja yesterday, disclosed that personnel from eight unit commands, comprising Ankpa, Koto-Karfe, Zariagi, Isanlu, Ogori-Magongo, Okene and Gegu-Beki  had been deployed to ensure free-flow of traffic during the Christmas and New Year festivals.
According to him: “In Lokoja metropolis and Okene where most of the traffic is always high , the Command has also deployed additional necessary operational equipment such as two truck, reflective condoning tape, traffic tones, radar, stun guns and pepper spray amongst others to man traffic points to ensure compliance to all traffic rules and regulations”.

While urging motorists to drive with caution as they travel during this Yuletide celebration, the sector commander warned that no violation of traffic rules would be overlooked, stressing that offenders would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He, however, advised FRSC personnel deployed to various points to guard against over zealousness and compromise that would hinder free flow of traffic.
