Yuletide: NGO donates money, food to 7 orphanage homes

A non-governmental organization, Lady Helen Child Health Foundation (LHCHF) said Wednesday it had donated money and relief materials to seven orphanage homes in the FCT as part of activities to celebrate Christmas.

Secretary of the NGO, Dr Francisca Odeka said the gesture was aimed at providing succour to the orphans and less privileged persons.

She said: “This effort is part of our annual activities, whereby we make sure that less privileged persons and orphans enjoy and have a memorable Christmas.

“We support them financially and by donating gifts such as mattresses, food items, toiletries, diapers, and sanitary towels to address some of their basic needs.’’

She said since its inception in 2017, the organisation has continued to be at the vanguard of promoting the interests of the less privileged, with special attention on orphans and vulnerable children.

She added that it was in furtherance of that ideal that the NGO had continued to provide a wide range of support services, one of which is the Patient Treatment Assistance Programme (PTAP).

The secretary of the NGO also said that the organisation paid the medical bills of some orphans and vulnerable children, who were unable to pay for health services as well as ensure continuous treatment for persons suffering from sickle cell anaemia as well as HIV and AIDS.

Odeka called on well-meaning Nigerians to continue to support orphans and the less privileged in the society by showing them love, kindness, and care.

Some of the orphanage homes that benefitted from the gesture are: Anawim Orphanage, Gwagwalada; Mother Theresa Children’s Home, Gwarimpa; and FACADO in New Karu.

Others are Truth and Trust Compassionate Home, Kubwa; Bema Homes for Less Privileged, Piwoyi; Divine Wounds of Jesus Christ; and Treasure Homes in Karu Phase 2. (NAN)
