Yuletide: Rohr wishes Nigerians peace, success

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has issued his Christmas message to Nigerians – peace and success now and in the New Year – while he has also put out a special message to ailing goalkeeper Carl Ikeme. In October in Uyo, Franco-German coach Rohr led the Super Eagles to qualify for next year’s World Cup in Russia in fine style.

“My Xmas message is peace and success to everybody,” he said from his base in Europe “Some players have to play during the holidays. Good luck to them and no injury.”

He will also use this festive period to remember Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Ikeme, who is undergoing treatment for acute Leukemia. “To Carl and his family, I say this Christmas will be the last with sickness. The next one you will celebrate in good health,” Rohr prayed.

Th e Eagles coach is in the running for the CAF Coach of the Year, which will be announced in Accra, Ghana, on January 4. He is also expected to be in Morocco for the CHAN, which kicks off on January 13
