Yusuf Fresh U-16 Ramadan Championship: Young Rangers are Champions



Young Rangers Fc of Mokwa in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State have emerged Champions of maiden edition of Comrade Ahmed Yusuf Fresh Under-16 Ramadan Cup, organised by Mokwa Local Football Council (MLFC) of the state.
The team defeated Tatabu United Fc by 7-6 via penalty shootout, after both teams ended goalless at regulation time of the finals played at Kpege Secondary School, Mokwa.


Speaking during the final, the Chairman of Niger State Football Association, Comrade Ahmed Yusuf Fresh who the championship was organifinalsed in his honour appreciated Mokwa Local Football Council for the honour done to him.


He said the championship was in line with the vision of the state Football Association in seeing that the round leather game was developed at the grassroot and commended the local football council for keying into the vision.


Comrade Yusuf Fresh who is equally an Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and Member of Technical and Development Committee of Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) said the state FA was proud of Mokwa Local Football Council and called on other Local Football Councils in the state to emulate that of Mokwa.


“Niger State Football Association is proud of Mokwa local football council, just within a space of 10 months Mokwa local football council have hosted us. I want to urge all the local football councils in Niger state to emulate what Mokwa is doing by organizing activities that will bring development of football in the state”, said the Sardaunan Kwallon Kafa.


He also assured that the state football association would support any local football council in the state if they initiate programme that would enhance development of football in the state.
Similarly, the Chairman of Mokwa Local Football Council, Alh. Abubakar N. Audu appreciated the Sardaunan Kwallon Kaaf for accepting the Championship to be named after him.


He said Mokwa local football council was committed to grassroot football development, hence the staging of the age grade championship, adding that the local football council has a lot in stock for the development of the round leather game in the council and the state by extension.
Highlights of the event were presentation of Trophies, Medals, Certificates and cash prizes to winners and players who distinguished themselves during the championship. Twelve teams participated in the championship.
