Zamfara accuses PDP of sponsoring thugs

The Zamfara state government has condemned the recent political rally by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare, which led to vandalisation of APC properties by thugs in Gusau, the state capital.

The deputy governor, Sen. Hassan Nashiha, stated this at a statewide broadcast Monday .

Blueprint reports that Dr. Dare was in the state Sunday for a rally.

Sen. Hassan Nashiha described the PDP rally as contempt of court order which declared that Dr. Dare is not the gubernatorial candidate of PDP in 2023.

“We are all aware about Sokoto Appeal Court verdict which declared that PDP has no governorship candidate in Zamfara in 2023 elections and wondered why Dr. Dare will not respect the rule of law, ” Nasiha stated .

He further described the attack on APC properties by the PDP thugs as barbaric, undemocratic and unacceptable.

He charged security agencies in the state to take decisive action against those who perpetrated the acts, regardless of his/or highly positions in the state.

“I want to call on security agencies in the state to as a matter of urgency try and find those who were sponsored the vandalism of APC properties by PDP political thugs for prosecution, irrespective of their positions in the state,” Nasiha said.

Reacting to the allegations, the deputy chairman of , Zamfara state chapter, Muktar Lugga, condemned the arrest of former minister of Information and Zamfara central senatorial zone candidate, Alh. Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, former ambassador, Capt. Mairiga rtd, as well as their supporters by the Zamfara state government.

He described the allegations by the Zamfara state government against PDP as malicious and the arrest of their prominent members as undemocratic and unconstitutional.

Lugga called on supporters of PDP in the state to remain calm and law abiding, adding that the party in the state will be with them at all times.
