Zamfara APC expels Marafa, ex-deputy gov

The All Progressives Congress Zamfara state chapter has expelled Senator Kabiru Marafa representing Zamfara central for alleged acts against the interest of the party in addition to other anti-party activities.

The party also expelled is the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Ibrahim Wakkala and member representing Kauran Namoda/Birnin Magaji federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Aminu Jaji, for similar acts against the interest of the APC.

A statement issued Monday by the party the decision to expel the three politicians was reached at a meeting of the State Executive Committee in Gusau, the state capital, on Sunday.

The statement, which signed by the party’s state publicity secretary, Shehu Isah, for the state chairman in Gusau the state capital, also the decision was taken by the State Working Committee (SWC).

“The provision of Article 21 (A) ii and (D) v of the party’s constitution was activated against the three members for violation of the constitutional provision and engaging in acts inimical to the interest of the party. Consequently, a resolution was passed expelling all of them from the All Progressives Congress.”

According to the statement, the SWC highlighted the provision of the section of the party constitution that stipulated punishments for erring members for specific offences.

In particular, it says any member of the party who files an action in court against the party or any of its officials without first exhausting the avenues for redress stands expelled.

But regretted that Senator Marafa, who dragged the party to court over the conduct of the state governorship election primaries did not exhaust internal machinery for resolving such conflicts and even went on to take the party to court.

It added that the constitution also said no appeal against such expulsion shall be entertained until the withdrawal of the court case.

As at the time of posting this, Senator Marafa was yet to respond to text messages sent to him.
