Zamfara coalition condemns gunmen attack

The Coalition of Northern Group, Zamfara state chapter has condemned the attack on Birane community, Zurmi local government area by criminals which claimed over 40 lives.
The state chairman of the coalition, Bilyaminu Badarawa, at a press conference in Gusau, the state capital yesterday, described the incident as barbaric and ungodly.
It described the lingering security challenges in the state as alarming and urged every stakeholder in the state to identify useful ways of overcoming it.
“We appeal to the federal government, international development agencies to come to the aid of citizens of Zamfara state to salvage them from the hands of insurgents before the thing goes out of control,” Bilyaminu stated.
He said the focus of the coalition was to fight poverty, drug abuse, almajiri syndrome and to create means of survival for the poor people of the North.
The coalition called for immediate census of all the communities affected by armed bandits in the state from 2012 to date, to ascertain the extent of loss of lives and properties for redress by both federal and state governments.
