Zamfara commissioner lauds Assembly for Okaying Social Protection Bill

The passage of the long-awaited Social Protection Bill into law by the Zamfara state House of Assembly has been described as “commendable.”

The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Fa’ika M. Ahmed, stated this while reacting to the passage of the bill into law by the House led by the speaker, Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya.

This was contained in a statement issued Friday by the director of information,

Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Bashir Kabir Ahmad, in Gusau.

Hajiya Ahmed said the thorough legislative processes carried out before the passage of the bill into law showed that the House was willing to complement the passion and efforts of Governor Bello Muhammad “in cushioning the hardship of vulnerable persons across the state.”

She said the social protection programmes were multi-sectoral, involving all the MDAs of the social sector as coordinated by the Ministry Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Hajiya Ahmed further appreciated the participation and support of Save the Children International, other partners and organisations “who have been supportive to all the social protection programmes in the state.”
