Zamfara correspondents’ chapel elects new executives

The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Zamfara state council, has elected new officials to run the affairs of the chapel for the next four years.
Speaking during the formal inauguration of the new elected officials held at the NUJ press centre in Gusau yesterday, the credential committee chairman, Alh. Abba Kabara, described the election as peaceful, rancor-free, and credible.
He commended the state government, the national body of the Union as well as the state council for the support given to them towards a hitch free election.
In his remarks, Zamfara state Governor, Alh. Abdulaziz Yari, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof.
Abdullahi Muhammad Shinkafi, urged the entire working journalists in the state to eschew any form of sensational reporting and ensure their reports are accurate and factual.
“Indeed, we have witnessed an era where proliferation of unethical social media platforms are on the increase, so journalists have to strive to be careful in their daily reportage, the SSG stressed.
He suggested that government at all levels should regulate the social media users to avoid unethical messages that could cause damage to the government and country at large.
Similarly, the state Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alh. Sanda Muhammad Danjari, pledged to work hand in hand with the entire working journalists in the state to move the state forward.
Earlier speaking, the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Mainasara Muhammad, said the union would always work with the state government in publicising its good policies and programmes for the development of the state.
Those elected as new officials of the chapel include; Umar Muhammad Maradun of the Leadership Newspaper as chairman, Sanusi Muhammad of the Blueprint Newspaper as vice chairman, Ibrahim Ahmad of the News Agency of Nigeria as secretary while Bashir Malami Jabaka of Nagarta Radio was elected treasurer, respectively.
In his goodwill message, the new elected chairman, Muhammad Maradun, thanked members of the chapel for choosing him as their leader and promised to carry every member along for the progress of the chapel.
