Wife of Zamfara state governor, Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad Matawalle has empowered 500 vulnerable women in the state with 250 tailoring and 250 grinding machines, under her pet project, the Zamfara State Women Empowerment Scheme.
This is contained in a statement signed by her press secretary, Zainab Shu’aibu Abdullahi and made available to Blueprint in Gusau, Tuesday.
According to the statement, the aim of the scheme is to alleviate poverty among women in the society and for them to have sense of belonging.
“The month of June empowerment is in line with her continuous strive to provide a sustainable means of livelihood for women,” the statement said.
Zainab stated that the programme is also an addition to the achievements of Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle’s administration.
Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawalle, while presenting the sewing and grinding machines to the beneficiaries said, to help women explore their potentials, there is a need to create an enabling environment where they will be economically uplifted,” she said.
The first lady stated that the empowerment scheme which has improved the living standard of over 38,000 women so far, keeps recording more success stories across the state.
