Zamfara govt denies distributing vehicles to bandits

The Zamfara state government has refuted report published by an the online medium and allegations by the former council chairman Maradun Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Maradun, that the state government under the leadership of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle purchased and distributed vehicles, huge amount of money to bandits who are using the vehicles to attack innocent people in the state.

The state commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran stated this in an interview with newsmen in Gusau Wednesday.

The Commissioner described the allegations as malicious, adding that no sensitive government will aid terrorists to attack, kidnap or kill its citizens.

He described those behind the allegations as unpatriotic, who are committed to disrupt the good policies and programs of the governor, most especially the ongoing peace and reconciliation process initiated by the governor early last year.

He said the state government had July last year, purchased 200 operational vehicles and distributed to security agencies which includes Police, Army, NSCDC, FRSC, DSS among others, with a view to ease their operational services particularly, curbing banditry that had bedeviled the state for almost a decade.

“The 200 vehicles donated to security agencies by Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle in July last were given to Army, Police, Immigration, FRSC, Zamfara Road Traffic Agency (ZAROTA), Nigeria Correctional Services, EFCC, Hisbah Commission among others and in the presence of the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Army Staff to mention but a few. He said.

He cautioned rumor mongers in the state and those criticizing state government to apologise for their dastardly acts or face the wrath of the laws, saying, Government is ever ready to accept any constructive criticism where necessary.

“Those peddling fake accusations against the efforts of the state government under the leadership of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle should desist from trying to damaging his political carrier or his good policies and Programs that could touch the lives of the good citizens of Zamfara state or faces the wrath of the laws, regardless of their political and historical inclinations”. The Commissioner also warns.
