Gunmen kill 2 Poly staff in Kaura Namoda

Suspected bandits have stormed a low cost area in Kaura Namoda town, and killed a middle-age man, Usama Nazifi, and his neighbor Malam Bashir Muhammad who were staff of the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda in Zamfara.

The attack took place on Wednesday.

According to brother of the deceased who spoke in a telephone interview with Blueprint said the bandits invaded the deceased personal residence at around 2:30 am of Wednesday and shot him to death in front of his house.

“When my brother realised that the unknown gunmen invaded his house, he raised alarm shouting for help from his neighbours, and after asking his family to go back inside the house, he went straight to the main gate of the house to know what was exactly happened but unfortunately, the gunmen open fire on him leaving him in a cold blood during the attack,” he said. 

He further narrated that his neighbour called Malam Bashir was also killed by the gunmen immediately he rushed out to assist his brother attacked by the gunmen.

“When we received a phone call from one of his wife at around 3:00 am that our Brother was under attack by gunmen, we rushed to the area, only to see the security personnel taken away the bodies of our slain brother and his neighbor called Malam Bashir,” he said.

He added that the military had chased the gunmen immediately after they were informed by the community, adding that the deceased persons were laid to rest according to Islamic right in Kaura Namoda.

In an interview with newsmen, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Yahaya Muhammad Bande, condemned the attack by some unknown hoodlums which led to the killing of two of his young staff, describing them as hardworking staff and pray God Almighty to grant them paradise.

Efforts to reach the State Police Command Public Relations Officer Sp Muhammad Shehu as at the time of filling this report proved abortive.
