Zamfara killings: Stop playing politics with security, FG tells Yari

The federal government has advised Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari of Zamfara state to stop playing politics with the security problem in the state.
Fielding questions from journalists at the weekend, shortly after visiting Unguwar Galadima, where over 100 people were murdered, the Minister of State for Works, Amb. Bashir Yuguda, faulted Yari of apportioning blame to the federal authorities.

He said it was baseless and unfair for the governor as chief security officer of the state to blame federal government on the killings in the state.
Yuguda, however, said the responsibility of providing effective and efficient security lies on all tiers of government.
The minister, who expressed condolence message of President Goodluck Jonathan to the people of the emirate, said the federal government was committed to putting an end to the killings.

Yuguda announced a personal donation of one million naira to the families of victims, stressing that federal allocation relief materials would soon arrive for distribution to the families of the deceased.

In his response, the Emir of Dansadau, Alhaji Husaini Umar, while thanking the federal government for its concern, however, called for concerted efforts to end the killings in the area.
He said the killings in the emirate were posing a serious threat to the inhabitants, as majority had been contemplating to migrate.
