Zamfara: Matawallen names Balarabe new head of service

Zamfara state Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) has approved the appointment of Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe as the new head of the state civil service.

Director General Press Affairs Government House Gusau Yusuf Idris said the appointment was with immediate effect. 

Balarabe’s appointment followed the exit of Alhaji  Mujtaba Isah  who recently retired from service.

The governor, Idris said, wished Isah a happy retirement life and success in his future endeavours.

The governor described the former head of service as an astute administrator who contributed immensely to the development of the state “and his contribution will remain indelible to many civil servants in the state.”

Matawalle also congratulated the new head of service and urged him to assist in restructuring the state civil service to a role model in the country.

 The new head of service, a graduate of the University of Sokoto, now Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, was born 15th March, 1966.

He started his civil service career on the 21st August 1991 as a research officer in the office of the military governor of the old Sokoto state and rose to the position of permanent secretary.

He held various positions and served on many committees  including private secretary to a former president, late Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari from 1993 to 1996 and was responsible for drafting speeches and letters for the former president.

He was also a Sokoto state representative at the intergovernmental committee on transition to civil rule constituted by then military president, Ibrahim  Badamasi Babangida between 1992 and 1993.

Balarabe was first appointed private secretary in Zamfara state to the military sole administrator in the state and later appointed secretary, finance and general purpose committee from 1997 to 1999 among others.
