Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Command in the Zamfara state has arrested 113 suspected illegal immigrants in Gusau, the state capital.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in his office, the Comptroller of Immigration, Zamfara state command, Mr. Apolos Usman Onu, said the suspects “are now undergoing intensive screening at the Command to identify both regular and irregular immigrants in order to repatriate them to their respective countries.”

Onu further revealed that the operation “will be extended to all the 14 local government councils of the state to ensure that foreigners are tracked down and taken back to their countries, as directed by the Command’s national headquarters.”
“During the screening, whoever is found to have entered into the country through Zamfara state illegally will be eased out by the Command, irrespective of his status, background or inclination,” he said.
He advised residents harbouring illegal immigrants in Gusau to stop turn them over and desist from such unpatriotic act “as the Command will not condone any form of sabotage by people who always give foreigners asylum any longer.”
