The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NYSC), Zamfara state command, has arrested 52-yearold man, Aliyu Adamu, a resident of Gusau, the state capital, for allegedly defiling 3-year-old girl, Hauwa Anas Gusau.
Parading the suspect, the state NSCDC commandant, Mr. David Aabi, described the incident as devastating, saying after thoroughly investigating the matter, the suspect would be charged to court. “We shall continue following this case and make sure the suspect is prosecuted in a court of law as he has confessed the crime to our command,” David stated.
When contacted, the suspect denied to the crime, saying he had no social relation with the victim but only living in the same area with her parent. Father of the victim, Malam Anas Tukur Gusau, told Blueprint that his daughter on the fateful day spent the whole night suffering with chronic fever.
“It was the following day morning that we realised that the girl had been bleeding through her private part and when we asked her what happened she mentioned Malam Aliyu’s name, which I quickly reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp state command for prompt action,” he narrated.
He said the girl was later taken to hospital where doctors’ report confirmed that she had been defiled and that they were only waiting for final test result to determine if there was infection. Meanwhile, the state NSCDC commandant, David Aabi, called on parents in the state to always be vigilant on their children’s movement in order to avoid such misfortune.
