Zamfara pilgrims get 200 riyals fare reduction

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) over the weekend announced additional reduction of 200 Riyals from 2019 Hajj fare for pilgrims of Zamfara state.

A statement by the NACHON Head of Public Affairs, Hajiya Fatima Sanda Usara said the reduction was as a result of renegotiation with the state’s home/accommodation owner in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The amount, which is equivalent to N16, 492.08, has decreased the Zamfara state fares to N1, 467, 896.57 for 2019 Hajj.

The commission thanked the Zamfara state Governor Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle for the support and understanding exhibited while bargaining with the service provider, saying the step has paved the way for the intending pilgrims in the state to save extra money.

The commission said it appreciates and congratulates the Zamfara state Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board for mobilising intending pilgrims despite the challenges experienced in the state and the suitable arrangements already in place for the airlift of registered pilgrims to the Holy Land.

NACHON said the intending pilgrims from the state are encouraged to contact the state’s Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board in order to secure release of the reduced amount; while those pilgrims who have already departed for the Holy Land, the commission assures them that their reductions would be credited to them appropriately.
