Zamfara procures 17 ambulances for hospitals




 In line with its policy of boosting healthcare delivery services, the Zamfara state government through the Ministry of Health has distributed 17 additional brand new ambulances to general hospitals in the state.

Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Habibu Yelwa, while handing over the ambulances to benefiting health facilities at the Government House in Gusau, Thursday, said the state had now followed national ambulances services system.
He said each emirate has health committee that will ensure the utility of the ambulances for the benefit of the communities. He urged the management of the general hospital to make use of the ambulances to the communities not to  personalise it. “The ambulances contained first aid boxes, bed, oxygen facilities, sitters for health personnel among others,” Dr. Habib stated.

He stated that the ministry of health will ensure that the ambulances were put to use for the benefit of the communities, adding that the state government will remain committed in boosting healthcare delivery.
He commended Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara state for the support given to health facilities in the state. He added that the gesture will go a long way in ensuring that every citizen has access to healthcare delivery in the state. A director of planning in the ministry, Alhaji Bello Abarshi Anka, said the ministry will ensure adequate supervision of the ambulances.

The Principal Medical Officer of Tsafe local government General Hospital, Dr. Abdullahi Sani Wanzamai, commended Zamfara state government for the procurement of the ambulances adding that the ambulances will assist the benefiting health facilities in reducing maternal and mortality rate as well as other emergency treatment of patients in the state.
