Zamfara spends N55bn on road projects

Zamfara state government has expended the sum of N55 billion on the construction and rehabilitation of state and federal roads within its territory.
The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Birnin-Magaji, who disclosed this, said of the amount over N15 billion was spent of the reconstruction of federal roads.
He said some of the federal projects executed by the government included Mayanci-Anka-Daki-Takwas and Gummi road, Gusau-Kasuwar Daji road and Kaura Namoda-Gidan Jaja-to Jibia border in Katsina state.
According to him, the idea of road projects by the present administration was to enhance transportation and open up economic potentials in the rural areas.
“We have abundant agricultural potentials and mineral resources in different locations, that what calls for the government to focus attention on how best to harness the resources and bring about investment.”
He said the Yari-led government had collaborated with the local government councils to construct township roads in all the local government headquarters and major towns.
