Zamfara task force on covid-19 begins awareness campaign

Zamfara state COVID-19 Task force and preventive measures committee has embarked on sensitisation and awareness campaign drive to citizens of the state on preventive measures to be use in containing the spread of the Corona virus pandemic across the state.

The chairman of the committee also the speaker Zamfara house of assembly, Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya stated this while addressing newsmen Friday about the activities of his committee.

According to him, his committee which was constituted by Governor Matawalle has been given five terms of references which includes, to sensitize and enlightened the public on preventive measures to be use in containing the spread of the disease, the seek assistance both technically and financially from the development partners, WHO, United Nations Organization on how to address the spread of the disease in the state, to work with all relevant stakeholders like traditional, religious, community leaders as well as civil society organizations on preventive steps of the disease among others.

Magarya further stated that, the committee will work assiduously to ensure people living at grassroots have been enlightened and fully sensitise on preventive measures they should put in place in order not to allow themselves to be misinterpreted on the Corona virus pandemic.

The speaker, who described COVID-19 pandemic as a “global trend and devastating deadliest pandemic across the globe, said there was, therefore, the need for “a palliative blueprint by all relevant authorities across the world to ameliorate the spread of the disease among commoners.”

‘The state government had already procured all relevant COVID-19 preventive kits with a view to assist citizens of the state from contracting the disease,” he said.

He appealed to indigenes and residents to abide by all the government policies on preventive measures on coronavirus pandemic in order to achieve the stated objectives.
