Zamfara urged to secure land for Alnahda varsity in Gusau




  The Zamfara state government has been urged to provide a piece of land to the management of Al-Nahda International University (NIAMEY) Gusau study centre, with a view to enabling it build a permanent site. The call was made Saturday by the chairman for the first matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted students of NIAMEY 2019/2020 academic session, Comrade Nasiru Aula Dabbakal, at a ceremony held at J.B Yakubu secretariat in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital.   He stated that the call was imperative, considering the high level of patronage by the indigenous students of the state as the institution is running its programme in a temporary site which is inadequate to accommodate the admitted students.

 He also appealed to the state government under the leadership of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to look inward and support the indigenous students, who are undergoing different programmes in the university with scholarship and registration fees to enable them complete their courses successfully. 

In his remarks, the Director of Alnahda International University, Gusau study centre, Malam Yasir Bala, said a total of 462 students were admitted into the university in Gusau study centre for the 2019/2010 academic session. “The institution stands to strengthen academic quality by promoting intellectual excellence, moral rectitude and for the integrity of the individual and the nation through delivering high quality educational programmes,” the director said. He pointed out that, the university exists to improve the quality of life of students by preserving existing knowledge through teaching and developing new knowledge through research. 

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Abdulaziz Umar Sanda, cautioned the new intake students to refrain from committing social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, adultery among others. He advised them to concentrate on their study to attain the desired objectives. He said anyone found breaking the rules and regulations governing the university would be sanctioned and  commended the state government for the support given to the university for the establishment of the study centre in Gusau, the state capital.
