Zenith Labour Party mourns Shagari

The death of the first democratically elected president of Nigeria, Alhaji Sheu Shagari has been described as shocking and unfortunate at a time Nigeria needs the wisdom and guidance of leaders like him to pilot the nation out of the woods.

The National Secretary of the Zenith Labour party, Mallam Yahaya Makama, said in statement signed on Sunday by the National Publicity Secretary, Segundo Jones, that the former president was an embodiment of hope, honesty and humility while serving the nation stressing it would be difficult to fill the void he left behind.

“President Sheu Shagari was a patriot, an uncommon nationalist, a lover of all, true democrat who as president was detribalized and was never accused of nepotism. He respected the citizens faith in him as president without any bias to any tribe or religion. I wish the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”The party, however, enjoined Nigerians to embrace the good virtues the former president exhibited during his time with the hope that the future will be brighter than he left it.
