ZTE commissions ICT laboratory in Lagos

Global telecoms equipment maker and provider of telecommunication  and network solution, ZTE Cooperation has donated and commissioned a modern information communication technology  (ICT) laboratory to Police Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos.
The ICT laboratory is equipped with 20 modern desktop computers and also connected with a fully subscribed internet that will last for 18 months.
To ensure that the facility is properly utilised, the Chinese company is providing a 5KVA generator and UPS accessories for power back up to ensure 100 percent uptime.

Speaking at the commissioning of the new ICT laboratory, HaoFuquiang, managing director, ZTE Nigeria Limited, said that “as part of ZTE’s corporate social responsibility and giving back to the communities where we operate, we have initiated a ‘ZTE ICT Lab Project’ for primary and secondary schools. With this project, ZTE plans to make donations of ICT laboratories to selected primary and secondary schools.
“And we strongly believe that the children are the surely the leaders of tomorrow. “Nigeria is not just a business location, we believe strongly in the people and the government of Nigeria.

Doing business in Nigeria has strengthened our partnership with the nation and its relevant stakeholders. In view of this ZTE has been a strong agent in promoting bonding between the Chinese and Nigerians,” he added.
He said ZTE is keen to contributing its technical expertise in whatever sector that is needed to boost Nigeria’s growth and development, having trained thousands of Nigerians here in Nigeria and China, that the trainees have acquired amble skills and experiences in terms of handling sophisticated communication tasks.

This is just the preliminary stage because we are committed to transfer technology and expertise to local hands, he said. “To be able to compete in the dynamic ever tech world, Nigerian children need exposure to the latest computing technologies. Just like the children in the developed countries are exposed to modern technologies, Nigerian children should also be giving the opportunity to get same exposure.

“We appreciate the management and staff of ZTE for giving Police Children School, Ikeja opportunity to partake in their selfless humanitarian services. “We were excited when the organization came up with the promise of providing standard ICT lab to the school.”
She pledged the school’s readiness to make judicious use of the facilities to improve ICT skills of the pupils.  ZTE has been in Nigeria for over 10 years, building and providing telecom infrastructure and facilities for private operators, government, and other institutions. The company has offices in Abuja, Lagos and other cities in Nigeria.
