Zulum appoints 13-man board members for Borno’ information service

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state  has constituted a 13-member board to run the affairs of a newly established Borno state geographical information service board.

Zulum appointed Surveyor Bashir Shettima as chairman and Adam B. Bababe as executive secretary while  Mustapha Ali Ibrahim is to serve as  the legal adviser and secretary to the board.

The governor’s special adviser on public relations and strategy, Malam Isa Gusau announced the appointments in a statement released Saturday.

He recalled that Governor Zulum had weeks back, signed into law, a bill establishing the board for the purpose of reforming  land administration in Borno state through the deployment of different measures.

Creation of the Borno State Geographical Information Service Board, he explained, had set aside the existence of a ministry of land and survey. A 13-member board has replaced the ministry.

As part of the board, Governor Zulum, the statement noted, has approved 10 members who are to represent different stake-holders provided by the law establishing the board.

Dr Kaltum Ali will represent Borno north senatorial zone, Alhaji Zanna Mahdi for Borno Central and Alhaji Ibrahim Wala will represent Borno south.

Five members will each represent ministries of finance, justice, environment, local government and emirate affairs as well as agriculture. The remaining two members will each represent the state’s board of internal revenue, and the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (BOCCIMA).
