Zulum’s support to NPF excites IGP, cautions parties on political campaigns 

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state has commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP),Usman Baba Alkali for his efforts, sacrifices and doggedness in providing security to lives and property of the citizenry of the state.

He also assured the Nigerian Police that his government will continue to render the necessary support and assistance, including operational logistics to facilitate, encourage and motivate the Nigerian Police to provide adequate security to the people of the state, especially the farmers and traders who are engaged in rural and urban areas earning a living.

The governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special Duties, Hon. Lawan Abogu, stated this Sunday at the Nigerian Police College Maiduguri during the commissioning of a new and renovated administrative blocks, staff quarters, training ground, dining hall, hostels, sports fields, mosque, church, police primary school and Mounting II Division of the Nigerian Police Wulari among others.

He also appreciated the sacrifices and support of Police officers and men in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency which had led to the relative peace being enjoyed by the people of the state much recently while pledging to continue to partner with the personnel in the provision of security to the citizenry.

Zulum also assured that his government will not compromise on security to the people, which informed the collaboration of the all security agencies in the state towards the restoration of peace.

In his ad Oct 10dress, the IGP Usman Baba Alkali warned the new police recruits in training, their instructors, teachers, tutors, serving police officers and men as well as the retired ranks and files to always  show good conduct and be disciplined while stressing that, the NP has rules and regulations as every security agency in Nigeria has rudiments of operation.

Alkali charged them be loyal to their seniors and obey constituted authorities by abiding by the rules of the game during their training and even service when posted, pointing out that, disciplined, obedient, loyal  and hard working graduates at police colleges across the country and the Nigerian Police Academy Wudil Kano will be rewarded accordingly, to encourage and reward excellence.

The IGP also noted  that, the Nigerian Police will not compromise neither hesitate to regulate all activities of the political parties and the politicians to ensure  peaceful, fair, credible and smooth conduct of electioneering campaigns and  elections in  February 2023.

He further called on all political parties and politicians to play to the gallery by conducting  their electioneering campaigns and election procession according to the rules of the game by complying with all the security alert rules by abiding by the rules of the Nigerian Police  during campaigns and elections.
